Groundworks

Groundworks include the connection of electricity, water, sewage and telecommunications, to the proposed building and are not always simple matters, there are often complications involving existing underground services.

Example

This plan shows a layout of the underground services, which serve a small industrial estate.

The design scheme had to accomodate the existing services to the larger unit on the right of the drawing and provide services to both of the proposed units on the left of the plan and also to a development, which was proposed on land beyond the top of the plan.

Of paticular importance were the levels of the pipelines and ducts, all of which had to be instated so as to prevent conflicting routes across the site.

All cables and pipes were actually laid in ducts, for the purposes of future repair or replacement.
